Jack Hastwell

Jack Hastwell died in early December 2000 shortly after celebrating his 90th birthday.

Jack taught Technical Drawing at Carfield and subsequently Rowlinson.

I was saddened to hear that Jack Hastwell had died last week. I do remember him very well. I remember his sense of humour and his tolerance of small boys' pranks (as evidenced when he caught me and others copying a ten bob note in the dyeline machine). He was always fair but firm and patient with those who had difficulty in grasping the finer points of TD and he made a particularly significant contribution to the career development of many boys.
Peter Rodger - 1959 to 1966

I remember Jack. I was useless at technical drawing, and whilst at Rowlinson I never improved. My drawings were always bad because I was never taught how to hold the pencil properly. I was too heavy handed! When I joined the RAF my troubles ended very quickly. I became a first class draftsman and came out top of the class, so Jack must have taught me something!
Stuart Morgan - 1959 to 64
Jack taught me TD. He is fondly remembered.
Jim Marriott - 1963 to 70
